NortonLifeLock Re-launches NPRIDE

Stand Together - Strong, Diverse, Passionate

Growing up in rural Ireland, as part of a devout Catholic family, we were taught the importance of helping out one another, that we don’t go through life successfully alone, that we are always stronger together. We were raised to recognize that our individual differences made for a wonderful, colourful, and ever-changing tapestry. I realise I was fortunate enough to have open and engaging mentors and supporters; whether we all agreed was a different thing!

As an adult, these lessons continue to guide my journey. I canvassed in the lead up to the Marriage Equality Referendum in Ireland with Yes Equality and helped to organize the County Offaly Team section of the canvas; The Marriage Referendum passed in Ireland in 2015 by Public vote. I also volunteer with MPower Rapid Testing in Dublin, which is a volunteer-led, community-based rapid HIV testing service.

It goes without saying then that I am proud to work for a company that is committed to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion—one that talks the talk and walks the walk--NortonLifeLock.

We recently relaunched NortonLifeLock Communities where our diverse global employees can connect and get to know one another. It’s an opportunity to learn, share, and engage--a place to celebrate each other. I am honoured to be a member of NPride, a place for LGBTQI team members and allies, and to serve as Coordinator.

NPride is a safe space for team members to be their true selves. People can be “out” to a few people, everybody they know or a mix of somewhere in between. Some people don’t come out at all because they can’t or don’t feel comfortable; that is why visibility is so important and having a space where people can listen and hear people’s stories and experiences is vital. Through seeing and hearing other people’s stories, they may not feel alone, and can feel accepted.

Having a place where LGBTQI employees and voices can be heard and feel engaged with NortonLifeLock’s shared aspirations is very important. For NortonLifeLock, I really see the company as a support network, amplifying the voices of its employees no matter of age, sex, race, ethnicity or background. This dedication and openness really inspired me to raise my hand and be part of this community.

NortonLifeLock has employees in all regions of this world with a diverse workforce and customer base. Being part of such an inclusive and welcoming company like NortonLifeLock, a company that prides itself on making this world a better and safer place, while delivering on our important mission, is more than a career to me… it feels like home.
