Symantec Recognized as a Leader in Every Gartner Magic Quadrant for Endpoint Protection Platforms 1

Evaluation based on Completeness of Vision and Ability to Execute

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – Feb. 13, 2017 – Symantec Corp. (NASDAQ: SYMC), the world’s leading cyber security company, today announced it has been positioned by Gartner, Inc. in the “Leaders” quadrant of the “Endpoint Protection Platforms Magic Quadrant Report.”2

Symantec has appeared in the Leaders quadrant in every Magic Quadrant published since 2002. In the report, Gartner wrote that "the endpoint protection platform provides security capabilities to protect workstations, smartphones and tablets." The report evaluated 22 different vendors on 15 criteria and placed Symantec in the Leaders quadrant.

"Customers benefit directly from a solution with more integrated features. Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) leverages a breadth of proprietary technologies, and with the release of SEP 14 late last year, we delivered on the next evolution of endpoint protection," said Mike Fey, president and chief operating officer at Symantec. "It is an honor to be recognized in the 'Leaders' Quadrant once again. We believe this recognition from Gartner demonstrates our commitment to innovation, and the benefits our integrated, multi-layered defense approach brings to customers as they work to combat advanced threats."

The Gartner Magic Quadrant is a graphical portrayal of vendor performance in a market segment, including categories for leaders, challengers, visionaries and niche players. Criteria by which the vendors are measured include a company's completeness of vision and ability to execute.
